Norway and the Netherlands signed a cooperation agreement

Minister of Defense Tore O. Sandvik and his Dutch colleague, Ruben Brekelmans, signed a so-called Letter of Intent (LoI) between the two countries.

According to the press release, Through the new agreement, it is also possible to deepen cooperation in areas such as the defense industry, innovation and space.

In addition to the bilateral cooperation, the countries work closely togehther through, among other things, NATO and the Joint Expeditionary Force.

The Netherlands is one of our closest friends and allies, and we look forward to developing the cooperation further in the coming years, says Minister of Defense Tore O. Sandvik.

We greatly appreciate the close defense cooperation with the Netherlands. Among other things, Dutch marines has trained and exercised in Norway since the 70s. Now we want an even closer collaboration. This way, Netherland can support Norway even faster in a crisis situation.

Europe must step up our commitment to strengthen Euro-Atlantic Security. An important part of this is to forge ever closer ties with our European allies, and to find good operational and practical collaborations that make us stronger and safer together, says Sandvik.
